Five Quick Fixes Around The Home

Squeaky Door Hinges
Wd-40 is the go-to solution for this problem. Spray a little onto the hinges and move the door back and forward to work the lubricant into the mechanism. If you don’t have any, try rubbing the hinges with petroleum jelly. If that doesn’t work, you can lift the hinge pins about halfway and lubricate them with three-in-one oil. Use a rag or kitchen towel to catch the drips.
Squeaky Floor
For a temporary fix, sprinkle talcum powder over the noisy area and sweep it into the cracks. If you’re going to refinish the floor, remember to remove any traces of powder from the surface.
Peeling Wallpaper
Smear wallpaper paste onto a piece of writing paper using a knife, then put the paper against the underside of the section that’s come away from the wall. Press the wallpaper against the wall and slide the writing paper out. You can smooth away bubbles with a clean cloth.
Sticking Windows
Get some silicone spray lubricant from your local hardware shop to oil sliding windows that are sticking. Spray the lubricant onto a rag, then wipe it along the tracks. It doesn’t matter whether they’re metal, wood, or plastic.
Flat Cushions
Choose a sunny day to plump them up again. Start by putting them outside in the sun for a few hours and flip them halfway through. The sun will help evaporate the moisture that gets into the filling over time which should allow the cushions to plump up. Just make sure you don’t leave them out so long that the fabric fades.
